BEFORE AND AFTER: Creating A Warm, Modern Mix

This project was the very large home of a former Charlotte athlete when our clients purchased it. It was an extremely well-built and luxurious house and only two years old so our goal was to warm the home’s appearance with furnishings, textiles and color. The client, a young active family of four, desired a somewhat “moody” look with a combination of modern and traditional elements. We designed the entire home with a unique, interesting blend of the best of the two styles for an interesting modern mix.

See below for a few before-and-after shots!

Foyer – already a beautiful space, we only needed to add a sleek modern bench, black and white art and rustic lighting:

Living Room – we added a mix of traditional and modern shapes with textured textiles and warm color:

Living Room – we added warmly decorated bookcases, art and interesting lighting to take advantage of the tall space:

Main Bedroom – we used a charred oak bed, modern nightstands and bench and a mix of artwork to add interest:

Main Bath – we added colorful wallpaper, lighting, graphic drapery and an antique rug to warm the formerly cold space:

Basement Great Room – we removed open shelving and added furnishings in rustic woods and black steel with lots of texture and color:

Pool & Patio – already a great space, we added comfortable furnishings to create three distinct entertaining areas:

Upstairs Porch – open to the living and keeping rooms, this outdoor space now lives like a comforatble indoor space:

Basement Office – we added lighting, textiles and furnishings to create a very functional, private work space:

Kitchen – this space functioned well but needed color, texture, warmth and interest so we added lots of each:

Dining Room – we created a warm, colorful look for this open space that now flows seamlessly from the foyer:

Keeping Room – we created a warm, functional space with a new oak mantel and lovely, comfortable furnishings:
