As a follow up to our previous blog post where we explained our process, we now explain a very important, early step in that process – discovering your style. This important step is the foundation of a beautifully designed space that feels like “you”.
FIRST – what “feel” do you want from your surroundings? Do you want your room to feel formal, casual, cozy, serene, understated, impressive, bold, edgy or warm? Do you like a clean, minimal feel or a collected, sentimental feel? Several of these descriptions may fit, so finding the right combination for you is important.
NEXT – what “look” is your favorite? You may like a Farmhouse style but want it a bit more polished and dressed up, so a “Formal Farmhouse” style may be your look. Or, you may want a Farmhouse style with lots of color, so a “Bold Farmhouse” style may be your look. Rarely is a one-word style description enough for the many style nuances and combination of looks there are to choose from.
LAST – and most important – the key is to determine your style before beginning any project, and to use that style description throughout the design process. Take a look at a few of our new showroom vignettes with each room’s feel and style noted, along with a few of the elements that we used to produce each room’s style description. Read along and see if any of these looks are your own!
